20's Plenty for Bettws

History

In the Spring of 2012, the Bettws Green Group of Bridgend Green Party undertook a widespread survey of residents in Bettws in order to see what issues were of most concern to residents.

By far the biggest concern, across both lower and upper sites, was traffic in streets outside people's homes. The survey asked specifically if residents would support 20 mph speed limits in their street. An astonishing 82% of respondents said an emphatic YES.

Bridgend CBC has put in a few 20mph zones but has shown no inclination to follow the dozens of progressive local authorities that have have area wide 20mph limits across all residential areas. Even if they did, there is no guarantee places like Bettws, outside the town of Bridgend, would be covered.

The existing 20 mph zones in Bridgend are in mostly in small parts more affluent neighnourhood. This is wholly unacceptable unacceptable. We therefore have to take the initiative and insist that Bridgend CBC listens to us. This is why we have enlisted the support of the national 20's Plenty for Us organisation, and Bettws Green Group, to get this Enter how you started here.
